Summer Opportunity: Special Events Coordinator

This temporary position is for 10  weeks (32 hours/week) at an hourly rate of $19. Applicants will be required to work some weekends and evenings depending upon the scheduling of events and projects. This position will require on-site working.

 

The Special Events Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and executing special events for Stony Plain Road Business Association, partnering with community leagues, businesses, and social service agencies in our district. This work includes our new upcoming event - Music in The Park, taking place each Wednesday starting May and until the end of August, 2024. You will be the on-site coordinator, communicating and engaging with businesses, while also building relationships with local artists and promoting them throughout the events' duration.

The goal of this position is to build greater community capacity in the area, while also providing positive and active programming in a public park on a weekly basis. By countering negativity in the area, we hope to provide pathways to greater safety and community wellbeing in our district. This role will have you working with community groups, providing logistical support and executing events, evaluating successes and challenges, and providing recommendations for future events. This position will require an openness and realistic approach that looks to build community connections with a diverse social-economic community range.

 

Key Duties:

Manage all aspects of Music in The Park, including logistics, promotions, and artist relations. Gain valuable experience by providing support for two other summer projects - Free Outdoor Movie Night, and our new Summer Street Dance Party.
